Meat and fish alternatives
Eating a variety of foods is the key to having a healthy, balanced diet.
There are many plant-based alternatives to meat, for example tofu, tempeh, textured vegetable protein (TVP) and wheat protein (seitan), which are all great for experimenting with in recipes. However, if this is something you find too alien, it may be easier when first changing your diet to try out the wide selection of ready made meat and fish substitutes that are available.

Own Store Products
Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Asda all have a range of vegetarian products, some of which are suitable for vegans. These days the packaging tends to be labelled to make it easier to find without having to look through all the ingredients but it's best to check to ensure you're not missing out on something. A valuable resource for checking products while out shopping is a book called the "Animal Free Shopper" which is available from the Vegan Society. Covering vegan products ranging from food (including comprehensive supermarket own brand listings), cosmetics, drink... to home and gardening and everything in between, this really is an essential guide for the vegan shopper and its handy pocket-size means you can take it everywhere with you!
